The following Pack Leaders recently completed "New Leader Essential Training": Alex Bond, David Caputo, Jamesha Corpening, Bill Edmisten, Willie Edmisten and Dewayne Riddle. The class was instructed by Table Rock District Training Commissioner Pepper Smyth and was held at GAUMC. Completion of this training allows the leaders to wear the "Trained" patch on their uniform. Den Leaders Lisa Thompson and Kerry Foster had completed the NLET training at a prior training session earlier this year. Please take a moment and thank these leaders for putting in the extra effort to ensure that all Pack 219 scouts have a trained leader.

The approach of the Fall season means that school is starting back and the new scouting year begins shortly afterward. This year, when parents and scouts return on Sept. 17th, there will be new guidelines and procedures in place to help educate our members about the H1N1 Virus, which is commonly referred to as the Swine Flu. Please take a moment to read through the material you will be receiving and follow the new guidelines outlined.
With the recent launch of it's "Alumni Connection" program, the BSA is encouraging alumni across the USA to reconnect in time to take part in the celebration of the organization's 100th birthday in 2010. As part of this initiative, Pack 219 will seek to reconnect with former Cub Scouts from the 43 years that the pack has been sponsored by GAUMC. For more information on the National program to reconnect people with scouting, log on to http://www.bsaalumni.org/
Pack Committee Chairman Leslie Dula attended morning breakfast with the Methodist Men's group on Sunday, July 6th to give the group an update on the status of the scouting program at GAUMC. The group was given a status report on unit enrollment, leadership, programs, goals, priorities, budget and acomplishments. Group member Jerry Butler informed the group that Pack 219 was the only Table Rock District unit to receive the "Bishop's Award of Excellence" this year at the WNC Conference at Lake Junaluska. The Methodist Men's group reiterated their support of our scouting program and were very pleased with the growth and progress that the pack has experienced over the past 4 years. The Methodist Men were especially pleased with the continued growth of the P.R.A.Y. "God and Country" religious program that the pack offers annually and they agreed to take on sponsorship of this program. The Methodist Men's group furthered this show of support by assuring the pack that they are there whenever needed and that they are totally committed to their scouting ministry.
It is Pack 219 policy to cancel a scout meeting anytime there is a school cancellation due to weather. It is important to remember that while main roads may be clear and fine to travel on, many of our scout families live on secondary roads that may be in a far more dangerous condition. Your safety is our primary consideration.
